Short answer: Yes, for selected surgical dental procedures. At Smileplus Dental, you can claim MediSave for a dental implant ($1,950 MediSave + $650 cash), wisdom tooth surgery ($1,500, fully MediSave-claimable) and implant-supported dentures (about $6,000 from MediSave for the implants and alveoloplasty + $750 cash for the denture). Simple extractions, regular dentures, fillings and check-ups are generally paid in cash (or with CHAS / Pioneer / Merdeka subsidies where eligible). MediSave claims are for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, subject to CPF rules and withdrawal limits.

What dental treatments can I claim from MediSave?

MediSave is designed for medically necessary surgical dental work, not for every visit. At Smileplus Dental, the main MediSave-claimable treatments are:

  • Dental implant with crown – MediSave portion: $1,950; Cash portion: $650; Total at Smileplus: $2,600

  • Wisdom tooth surgery – MediSave portion: $1,500; Cash portion: $0; Total at Smileplus: $1,500

  • Implant-supported dentures – MediSave portion: About $6,000 (implants + alveoloplasty); Cash portion: $750 (denture); Total at Smileplus: About $6,750

Prices are nett. Hougang branch prices are subject to GST.

For more detail on each option, see our guides to dental implant cost, wisdom tooth surgery cost and implant-supported dentures cost.

What dental treatments are usually not MediSave-claimable?

These are typically paid in cash, or with CHAS / Pioneer / Merdeka subsidies if you qualify:

  • Simple wisdom tooth extraction ($150 cash at Smileplus Dental) when no surgery is needed

  • Regular dentures ($250 simple or $350 complex, cash)

  • Scaling, polishing, fillings, and routine check-ups

  • The crown portion of an implant (included in the $650 cash figure above)

  • The denture part of an implant-supported denture (the $750 cash figure)

If you're unsure which category your treatment falls into, ask at the consultation. Our team checks the X-rays and explains the cash and MediSave split before you book.

Who can use MediSave for dental surgery?

Generally:

  • You must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • The procedure must be an approved surgical dental treatment

  • You can often use your own MediSave account, or an immediate family member's account (such as a spouse, parent or child), subject to CPF rules

  • There are withdrawal limits per procedure and per episode, set by CPF / MOH

Bring your NRIC (and the family member's NRIC and consent if using their MediSave). Our clinic assistants help with the claim paperwork after the dentist confirms the treatment plan.

How does the MediSave claim work at Smileplus Dental?

  1. Consultation and X-rays: the dentist checks whether you need surgery and which option fits your situation.

  2. Clear quote: you get a breakdown of the MediSave portion and the cash portion before treatment.

  3. Treatment day: the surgery is done at the Hougang or Redhill branch.

  4. Claim: our team submits the MediSave claim for the surgical portion. You pay only the cash portion (if any) at the clinic.

You don't need to visit a CPF office for a typical dental MediSave claim at our clinic. We handle the submission on your behalf once the details are confirmed.

Wisdom tooth: extraction vs surgery — which uses MediSave?

  • Simple wisdom tooth extraction – Price at Smileplus: $150; MediSave?: No — cash

  • Wisdom tooth surgery (impacted / surgical removal) – Price at Smileplus: $1,500; MediSave?: Yes — fully claimable

A simple extraction is used when the tooth has fully come through and can be removed in one piece. Surgery is used when the tooth is impacted or needs bone removal or sectioning. An X-ray tells us which one you need. Read more on our Wisdom Tooth page and the wisdom tooth surgery cost guide.

How much MediSave do I use for a dental implant?

At Smileplus Dental, a single implant with a porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crown is $2,600 in total:

  • MediSave $1,950 — covers the surgical implant placement

  • Cash $650 — covers the crown and related non-surgical parts

What's included: implant surgery, X-rays, medication, the PFM crown and post-operative follow-ups. Bone grafting or other extras, if needed, are quoted separately. See our Implants page and the implant cost guide.

Can MediSave cover implant-supported dentures?

Yes, for the implant surgery part. At Smileplus Dental:

  • Denture: $750 cash

  • Implants and alveoloplasty (jawbone smoothing): about $6,000 from MediSave

The exact implant amount depends on how many implants your jaw needs, which the dentist confirms after examination and X-rays. More on our Implant-Supported Dentures page.

What about CHAS, Pioneer and Merdeka?

MediSave and CHAS work differently:

  • MediSave helps with approved surgical dental procedures (as above)

  • Blue CHAS, Pioneer Generation and Merdeka Generation cards can subsidise selected non-surgical care such as dentures, and other subsidised items under the CHAS dental scheme

Smileplus Dental accepts Blue CHAS, Pioneer and Merdeka cards. Bring your card (or NRIC) so we can check what applies to your visit. See our Dentures and Implant-Supported Dentures page for denture prices and how subsidies work.
