What are implant-supported dentures?
Implant-supported dentures (also called implant overdentures) are dentures that attach to dental implants placed in the jawbone. The implants act as anchors, so the denture is held in place instead of resting only on the gums.
They are an option for people who have lost most or all of their teeth in one jaw, or who already wear dentures and find them loose. The denture can usually be clipped on and removed for cleaning.

The MediSave amount is approximate, and the details are explained in person at your consultation. Prices are nett. From 1 March 2025, GST applies at our Hougang branch.

Can I use MediSave for implant-supported dentures?
Yes. The surgical part of implant treatment is MediSave-claimable for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. For implant-supported dentures at Smileplus Dental, it is $750 cash for the denture + about $6,000 from MediSave.
MediSave withdrawals are subject to limits set by the Ministry of Health and to the balance in the account used. Our team will check the claimable amount for your treatment plan before you proceed.
How does a MediSave claim work?
Consultation and X-rays. The dentist assesses your gums and bone, discusses options and gives you a written quote.
Sign the MediSave form. You can use your own MediSave account or an immediate family member's account, subject to CPF rules.
Clinic submits the claim. Our team submits the claim to CPF on your behalf.
Pay the cash portion. The $750 cash for the denture is paid at the clinic.
How are implant-supported dentures different from regular dentures?
How they stay in place – Regular dentures: Rest on the gums; Implant-supported dentures: Clip onto implants in the jawbone
Surgery needed – Regular dentures: No; Implant-supported dentures: Yes, to place the implants
MediSave – Regular dentures: Generally not claimable; Implant-supported dentures: Implant surgery is claimable
Both are valid options. The dentist can explain which may suit you after an examination, taking into account your bone, gum health, medical history and budget.
Who may be suitable?
Suitability depends on factors such as the amount of jawbone available, gum health and general medical conditions. The dentist assesses this using an examination and X-rays at the consultation. If implants are not suitable, other options can be discussed.
What happens during treatment?
Treatment usually takes place over more than one visit. The implants are placed first and allowed time to heal with the bone. The denture is then fitted to attach to the implants. Your dentist will explain the timeline for your case at the consultation.
