How much does a dental bridge cost in Singapore? (CHAS and MediSave explained)

By the Smileplus Dental team · Last updated: 5 November 2026

Short answer: At Smileplus Dental, a 3-unit dental bridge costs about $2,000–3,000, paid in cash. CHAS subsidies can apply, and a Blue CHAS or Merdeka Generation card takes about 50% off. Bridges aren't MediSave-claimable because no surgery is involved. The dentist confirms whether a bridge suits your gap, and your final price, after an examination.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge replaces one missing tooth (or sometimes more) by "bridging" the gap. The most common type is a 3-unit bridge:

  • two crowns that fit over the healthy teeth on either side of the gap, and

  • one false tooth in the middle, joined to those two crowns.

The whole bridge is cemented in place, so it doesn't come out like a denture. To make room for the crowns, the two neighbouring teeth are trimmed down, which is one of the main things to weigh up when choosing between a bridge and an implant.

The price range depends on things like the material used and the condition of the supporting teeth. Our team checks your subsidy card and gives you a written price before any treatment starts, so there are no surprises.

How do CHAS, Pioneer and Merdeka subsidies work for a bridge?

CHAS, Pioneer Generation and Merdeka Generation dental subsidies are funded by the government. If you're eligible, we deduct the subsidy straight from your bill and claim it back from the government, so you only pay the balance. The subsidy is not taken from your MediSave.

For a bridge, a Blue CHAS or Merdeka Generation card takes about 50% off the price. Other CHAS cards may still receive a subsidy. Bring your card to your visit and our team will confirm the amount. For a full picture of senior schemes, see our guide to dental subsidies for seniors.

Can I use MediSave for a dental bridge?

No. MediSave can be used for approved surgical dental procedures, and a bridge is made and fitted without surgery, so it's paid in cash, with a CHAS, Pioneer or Merdeka subsidy if you're eligible.

If you'd like to use MediSave to replace a missing tooth, a dental implant is the option where it applies. At Smileplus Dental, a single implant with its crown is $2,600 in total: MediSave $1,950 and Cash $650. The full breakdown is in our guide to dental implant cost and MediSave.

Looking at the cash you pay, an implant can cost less out of pocket than a bridge for patients who can use MediSave, while a denture has the lowest upfront cost. Each option suits different situations, though, and price is only one part of the decision. Our article on implant or bridge and our guide to missing tooth replacement costs go into more detail.

When might a bridge be considered?

The dentist looks at your teeth and explains the options available to you. A bridge is one option that's often discussed when:

  • one tooth is missing and there are teeth on both sides of the gap,

  • the neighbouring teeth already have large fillings or crowns, so trimming them is less of a trade-off,

  • you'd prefer a fixed tooth rather than a removable denture, or

  • implant surgery isn't something you want or isn't suitable for you.

What's included, and how many visits does it take?

The price covers preparing the supporting teeth, making the bridge and fitting it. Treatment usually follows these steps:

  1. Consultation and examination: the dentist checks the gap and the neighbouring teeth, and may take an X-ray.

  2. Preparing the teeth: the two supporting teeth are shaped under local anaesthetic.

  3. Impressions and a temporary bridge: a mould or scan is taken so the bridge can be made to fit, and a temporary cover protects the teeth in the meantime.

  4. Fitting: the bridge is tried in, checked for bite and colour, and cemented in place.

If another treatment is needed first, such as a filling or root canal treatment on a supporting tooth, our team explains it and its cost separately before you decide.

How do I look after a dental bridge?

  • Brush twice a day, paying attention to the gum line around the crowns.

  • Clean under the false tooth every day with a floss threader, super floss or an interdental brush, since food can collect there.

  • Avoid biting on very hard things like ice or bones.

  • Come in for regular check-ups so the dentist can check the bridge and the supporting teeth.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a dental bridge cost at Smileplus Dental?

A 3-unit dental bridge at Smileplus Dental costs about $2,000–3,000, paid in cash. Blue CHAS or Merdeka Generation cardholders get about 50% off, and Hougang branch prices are subject to GST.

Can I use MediSave for a dental bridge?

No. Bridges don't involve surgery, so they aren't MediSave-claimable. If you want to use MediSave to replace a missing tooth, a dental implant is the option where it applies: at Smileplus Dental a single implant is $650 cash plus $1,950 MediSave.

Is a dental bridge covered by CHAS?

CHAS subsidies can apply to a bridge. With a Blue CHAS or Merdeka Generation card, the price is about 50% lower. The subsidy is government-funded, deducted from your bill and isn't taken from your MediSave.

Is a bridge cheaper than an implant?

Not always in cash terms. A 3-unit bridge is about $2,000–3,000 in cash, while a single implant at Smileplus Dental is $2,600 in total, of which $1,950 can come from MediSave, leaving $650 in cash.

Do the teeth next to the gap need to be trimmed for a bridge?

Yes. The two neighbouring teeth are shaped so crowns can fit over them and hold the false tooth. An implant replaces the missing tooth without trimming the neighbouring teeth.

How many visits does a dental bridge take?

Usually at least two: one to examine and prepare the supporting teeth and take impressions, and another to fit the bridge. The dentist explains the timeline for your case.
