How much does it cost to replace a missing tooth in Singapore?

By the Smileplus Dental team · Last updated: 29 October 2026

Short answer: At Smileplus Dental, a removable denture costs $250 (simple) or $350 (complex), a dental implant is $650 cash + $1,950 MediSave, and implant-supported dentures are $750 cash for the denture plus about $6,000 from MediSave for the implants. Dentures are paid in cash, and the $250 and $350 prices are already after CHAS, Pioneer Generation or Merdeka Generation subsidy. Implant surgery is partly MediSave-claimable for eligible Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. A 3-unit bridge costs about $2,000–3,000 in cash, and Blue CHAS or Merdeka Generation can take about 50% off. Our team confirms your price before treatment starts.

Why replace a missing tooth at all?

A gap can feel like a small thing, especially if it's at the back. Over time, though, the teeth next to it can drift or tilt into the space, the tooth above or below can start to over-erupt, and chewing tends to shift to one side. Some people also notice food trapping or changes to how their smile looks.

Replacing the tooth helps keep your bite balanced and makes eating more comfortable. Which option suits you depends on how many teeth are missing, the health of the neighbouring teeth and gums, the bone in the area, and your budget.

What are the options for replacing a missing tooth?

There are four common ways to fill a gap:

  • Removable denture: a plate with one or more false teeth that you take out to clean. It's the most budget-friendly option and doesn't need surgery.

  • Dental implant: a small titanium post placed in the jawbone, topped with a crown. It's fixed in place and doesn't rely on the neighbouring teeth.

  • Bridge: a false tooth held in place by crowns on the teeth either side of the gap. It's fixed, but the neighbouring teeth need to be trimmed to support it.

  • Implant-supported denture: a full denture that clips onto implants, often chosen when most or all of the teeth in a jaw are missing.

What does MediSave cover, and what is paid in cash?

MediSave can be used for the surgical part of tooth replacement, which is placing the implant in the bone. For a single implant at Smileplus Dental, that's the $1,950 MediSave portion; the remaining $650 is paid in cash.

For implant-supported dentures, the MediSave portion (about $6,000) covers the implants and alveoloplasty, a procedure to smooth and shape the bone. The denture itself is $750 cash.

Regular dentures and bridges aren't surgical, so they aren't MediSave-claimable and are paid in cash. You may be able to use a family member's MediSave, such as a spouse's, parent's or child's, if your own balance is low. Our team helps with the claim paperwork. You can read more in our guide to using MediSave for dental treatment.

Can I use CHAS, Pioneer or Merdeka subsidies?

Yes, for eligible treatments. For dentures, our $250 and $350 prices already include the subsidy. These subsidies are funded by the government. We deduct the subsidy from your bill and claim it back, so you pay the balance. They don't make treatment free, and they aren't taken from your MediSave. For more detail, see our guide to dental subsidies for seniors.

How do I decide which option suits me?

There isn't one right answer for everyone. Things the dentist will look at with you include:

  1. How many teeth are missing. One gap may suit an implant or a bridge; several gaps may suit a denture; a whole jaw may suit an implant-supported denture.

  2. The neighbouring teeth. If they're healthy and untouched, an implant avoids trimming them. If they already need crowns, a bridge may make sense.

  3. Your gums and bone. Implants need enough healthy bone. An X-ray or scan helps check this.

  4. Your budget and MediSave balance. A denture costs less upfront; an implant uses MediSave to reduce the cash you pay.

  5. How you feel about removing a tooth to clean it. Some people are comfortable with a removable denture; others prefer something fixed.

The dentist will explain the pros and cons of each choice for your situation and give you a written quote before anything starts.

What happens at the first visit?

At your consultation, the dentist examines the gap, checks your gums and the teeth around it, and takes X-rays if needed. You'll go through the suitable options together, along with the price for each and how much MediSave or subsidy may apply. There's no obligation to start treatment on the same day.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to replace a missing tooth in Singapore at Smileplus Dental?

A removable denture is $250 (simple) or $350 (complex), after CHAS, Pioneer or Merdeka subsidy. A dental implant is $2,600 in total, made up of $650 cash and $1,950 MediSave. Implant-supported dentures are $750 cash plus about $6,000 MediSave.

Can I use MediSave to replace a missing tooth?

Yes, for implant surgery. For a single implant at Smileplus Dental, $1,950 is paid from MediSave and $650 in cash. Regular dentures and bridges aren't MediSave-claimable.

Is a denture or an implant cheaper?

A denture costs less upfront, at $250 or $350 after CHAS, Pioneer or Merdeka subsidy. An implant costs $2,600 in total, but $1,950 of that can come from MediSave, so the cash portion is $650.

Can CHAS help with the cost of dentures?

Yes. Our denture prices of $250 (simple) and $350 (complex) are already after CHAS, Pioneer Generation or Merdeka Generation subsidy. The subsidy is government-funded, deducted from your bill, and isn't taken from your MediSave.

How much does a dental bridge cost?

A 3-unit bridge costs about $2,000–3,000, paid in cash. CHAS subsidies can apply, and Blue CHAS or Merdeka Generation take about 50% off. Bridges aren't MediSave-claimable. Our team confirms your price after an examination.

Do I have to replace a missing back tooth?

It's your choice. A gap can let nearby teeth drift and change how you chew over time, so it's worth discussing the options with a dentist.
